Spring is Here — Let’s Revel Together
As the days grow longer and spring begins to stir, the Revels community is preparing once again to gather in song and celebration. In the weeks ahead we’ll welcome special guest artists, share exciting news about our partnership with Douglas Morrisson Theatre, and begin shaping plans for California Revels’ 40th anniversary year.
We hope you'll join us for our Spring Wheel of the Year celebration on April 4 and our Annual Meeting on March 18 as we look ahead to the next chapter of Revels together.
Help Shape Our 40th Anniversary Keepsake
2026 marks the 40th birthday of California Revels, and we would love to commemorate it with a special keepsake created with input from the Revels community.
It takes less than a minute to complete our quick two-question survey.
More ways you can support the Revels
From the 2025 Midwinter Revels show at the Douglas Morrisson Theatre
We’re excited to share wonderful news about our partnership with Douglas Morrisson Theatre (DMT).
After many successful seasons working together, DMT has invited Midwinter Revels to become an official part of their 2026 theatre season.
The DMT team shared how much they enjoy collaborating with Revels each year, noting that they genuinely look forward to the holiday season in large part because “it gives us the opportunity to work with you again.”
This partnership will bring significant visibility benefits:
inclusion in the theatre’s season marketing
promotion across theatre facilities and communications
advertising through the Hayward Area Recreation & Park District, one of the largest Parks & Recreation systems in California
Both the Douglas Morrisson Theatre and Hayward Area Recreation and Park District are proud to include Revels as part of their seasonal offerings — and we are proud to be part of their season.
Revels Board News
Welcoming New Board Member Sarah Lamb
We are delighted to welcome Sarah Lamb to the California Revels Board of Directors.
Sarah first joined the Revels circle as an audience member in Portland in the 1990s, and after moving to the Bay Area she was thrilled to discover California Revels in Oakland.
Over the years she has participated in many ways:
Audience member
Donor
Volunteer adult chorus performer
Wheel of the Year participant
Singer with the Solstice Ensemble and Revels Roses
Revels Leaders Gather at National Conference
Our Artistic Director Jeri Reed and Associate Music Director Anne Bingham Goess recently attended the National Revels Meeting in Phoenix, joining staff and artistic leaders from Revels organizations across the country.
Jeri shared:
“Each year staff from the nine Revels cities gather to discuss all things Revels. There is nothing like getting together in person. Immediately there is an eager back-and-forth of successes and difficulties, tips and solutions.
We see each group's approach to Revels traditions and to Revels growth. Each city has a different community and a different approach. We ask questions, extend help and support, and learn so much.
Most of all, we talk about what makes Revels still speak to people after 56, or 50, or — in our case — 40 years! We never get to the definitive answer, and that is part of what makes Revels Revels."
The gathering included conversations with colleagues from Cambridge, Portland, Revels North, and Houston, as well as a lively clowning workshop led by Michelle Matlock of Puget Sound Revels.
Sarah has worked in arts administration roles including with San Francisco Opera and the Grand Teton Music Festival, and has served on several nonprofit boards.
She joins the board as California Revels approaches its 40th anniversary season, and looks forward to helping ensure that the Revels spirit continues to flourish and delight the community for years to come.
With Gratitude to Dan Gross
We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Dan Gross for his many years of dedicated service to California Revels. Over the years Dan has contributed in countless ways — as a chorus member, stage musician, our COVID-19 safety officer during a challenging time, Board Treasurer, Co-Executive Director, and a thoughtful member of the Board of Directors. His leadership, kindness, insight, and steady presence have meant a great deal to this organization. We will miss his thoughtful perspective and his unique combination of business acumen and artistic sensibility. Now living in Mariposa, California, we wish Dan every happiness as he spreads his wings and continues his journey, soaring onward like the butterfly he was always meant to be.
