Donation platform

Dear Revelers,

We’d like to share an important update with our community.

Flipcause, our former donations processor, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on December 19, 2025, leaving thousands of nonprofits nationwide without millions of dollars in donations. The company owes $29 million to multiple non-profit organizations, according to the filing (read the full article at Oakland Voices).

Because of this, approximately $23,000 in contributions made to California Revels is presently in limbo within Flipcause’s financial system and is now part of the bankruptcy process. At this time, we do not have clarity on when—or if—those funds will be released.

To put this in perspective: our annual operating budget is approximately $125,000, meaning the affected funds represent about 18% of our total budget. While this is a meaningful sum—and deeply frustrating—it does not threaten the stability or continuity of our organization.

As soon as we learned of operational and financial instability affecting Flipcause, we moved swiftly to protect future giving by migrating our donations platform to PayPal. We want to emphasize clearly: no new donations are affected, and all contributions made since the transition remain secure.

Despite this setback, California Revels remains financially solvent, operationally strong, and fully focused on our mission. Our planning continues without interruption, and we are energized and excited to bring you a vibrant, jubilant 40th anniversary show later this year.

We take our role as stewards of your generosity seriously, and we remain committed to transparency, diligence, and care as we navigate this process. Thank you for your trust, patience, and ongoing support.

With deep gratitude,

California Revels Board of Directors
